More Birka pics
31st-Jan-2007 09:55 pm
Rob (firebreathnchkn) was kind enough to take some pictures of me in my new German dress at this past Birka. I'm pretty pleased with how it came out, though I'm not so thrilled with the wrinkly wulsthaube. Oh well, something else to keep tweaking.

Though I have to say, the more I look at it, the more inspired I am by this picture... (Hey, it's a heck of a dress!)

*is highly jealous* i need more nice garb. Nearly everything i have is modified Salvation Army finds. My only really period garment is a very simple Viking apron dress i whipped together in a last minute panic. Can't you just come over and have sewing parties on my side of the country to get me motivated? *puppy eyes*

Heh, tempting, but...

I find watching period costume dramas tend to motivate the crap out of me. That, and the rapid approach of events I promised to have new garb for.

Well, i did get a new sewing machine for Christmas, so not swearing and crying every 30 seconds will probably do a great deal toward the creation of more garb. :)

Now i need to go get some more/varied period movies...

Being a late period dork, I'm a huge fan of Blackadder, Elizabeth, Shakespeare in Love, the BBC's Elizabeth R, etc.

You are a sexy sexy woman, even with your brain slug. (love you, don't hit me!)

Hey, it make all the male brain slugs go "glorp!" And that's all that really matters. ;)

For those that haven't seen the originals, the backgrounds were doors like in the last pic. Blacking them out makes these pics work much better.

Yeah, I thought so. I considered adding a gold-lettered caption in the background as seen in portraits, but I don't look serious enough for that. :)
